Our studio have been working on the interior renovation of this villa on the Florence-Prato's plain. The intervention on the second floor reuses the existing residential rooms, and enhances an accessory space, the attic.
The first-floor living area is accessed through a new entrance, created by the placement of a storage volume. From here a travertine-covered staircase leading to the attic level and a corridor connecting the sleeping area develop. The living room is organized into two areas: one with seating to relax, the other one organized to dine with a long glass table. In addition to the furniture, neutral double curtains filter the light as a symbol of the textile business that the family has been carrying on for generations.
The attic, is a more informal area in relation to the whole house. Characterized by a low oak furniture along the walls, seating, countertops and shelves, it is designed to welcome friends and rest.
Materiality is really imporant: wood, fabrics of neutral tones and natural stones - such as travertine - are the protagonists, connecting the house in close relationship with the outdoor landscape.
