The project concerns the interior renovation of a single-family villa in Prato. The existing building is completely reorganized and divided into two dwellings; the first develops between the ground floor and the basement.
Thanks to the direct access from the garden and to the big glass windows, the dining room and living room are spacious and bright areas. The peninsula kitchen is configured as a single volume, where travertine, natural wood and painted wood alternate to highlight different elements. A burgundy-red volume lines one side of the hallway and leads to the bedrooms. Here, the project includes a sequence of custom-made furniture: a headboard bed in canned boiserie, the sliding panel which closes the walk-in closet, and a drawer.
The basement is organized to host friends and hobbies. Soft seats take place in this area, as well as a shelving unit where the couple's record collection can be set up.
The space is the result of a unique use of color, to suggest a young and convivial place. In terms of finishes, the tone is darker than the first floor, to suggest an enveloping dimension.
